EUROTUNNEL CUT PRICES TO BOOST BUSINESS

Cross-channel travellers using cash strapped Eurotunnel will be able to book tickets to France for just £49 or there are short stay return fares from just £30 following the introduction of new tariffs brought in by the company.

The new prices which Eurotunnel have introduced are similar to those used by budget airlines. Booking in advance can give customers the best deals, but last minute bookings and those at peak times will cost more.

Its 2004 revenues were down 7% on 2003, while its losses stood at £540m.

The Anglo-French company is  trying to secure a financial rescue package in order to avoid going into bankruptcy.

They are hoping to have two thirds of their £6billion debt written off to help reduce the crippling interest payments and revive the company's fortunes.
