STUDENTS EVACUATED AFTER WHITE POWDER FOUND IN SCHOOL

Emergency services rushed to a "suspicious chemical" alert at Pent Valley Technology College Folkestone this afternoon (14 June).

Roads surrounding the campus were closed after a white powder was found leaking from an envelope in an office area of the school.

All students were sent home, but three members of staff  and a police community support officer attached to the college who came into contact with the powder were not allowed to leave until tests were carried out.

Kent Police later confirmed the substance found was a harmless mild irritant found in toothpaste and animal feed.

Investigations are continuing to find out who sent the envelope
