'MOST SUCCESSFUL'  SAY GROUP

Twenty eight French guests from Swingfield's twin village of Aviron were shown the wartime tunnels beneath the Castle at Dover and enjoyed a picnic lunch in the Castle grounds overlooking the English Channel on Saturday during their visit to England at the weekend.

In the evening in an informal relaxed atmosphere 80 people sat down to a  four course meal at Stelling Minnis Village Hall and enjoyed music by local and French performers.

With the weather continuing fine again on Sunday the visitors were shown Stelling Minnis Windmill before 100 people tucked in to a  lunchtime barbeque arranged by the Swingfield Twinning Association.

Association Chairman Colin Tearle said: "This was one of the most successful exchanges I have been associated with in the eight years we have been linked.

"The success  is due in no small way to a very dedicated hard working committee with enthusiastic host families without which, none of this could have happened."
