PUPILS TURN DETECTIVE

Pupils at a school in Dover will be getting some welcome relief from their SAT exams when they get the opportunity to become detectives.

PC Steve Ashton from Dover will be recreating a mock crime scene at St Martin's School and 36 pupils from year six will work in role-play exercises to investigate the crime.

Real life Crime Scene Investigators and drugs dogs from Kent Police will be visiting to give the children the opportunity to learn from officers who investigate these types of incidents every day.

The children will work in groups to follow through the investigation, write reports and prepare press releases that appeal for witnesses and information.

It is hoped that the experience will open the eyes of the pupils to what the police do o­n a day-to-day basis as well as reinforce the message that the police are there to help if there is problem.
