HEALTH CENTRE RUMOURS

Dear Ed,

Words on the wind have reached my shell likes, to the effect that Hawkinge is to have it’s very own up to date Health Centre!

With very up to date facilities and car parking area and that there may even be space for a Pharmacy Facility and Ambulance Parking.

The above is very interesting news, if true. Likewise, the whereabouts of this Health Centre. The whispers that are winging about on the wind place it either in British West Hawkinge or British East Hawkinge (1 of the 2 of course, where else!)

Could it be that the speculation raised in your current poll, places it at the Spitfire Leisuredrome in British West Hawkinge or as another whisper has it, in British East Hawkinge.

If it is in the East, 2 rumours are circulating:

The open space/field/paddock that is between Mill Lane and The Street and somewhat to the rear of Hawkinge Primary School (there is a counter rumour that, that land is also set aside for future housing however) or:

The scrappy but biologically interesting wooded area at the junction of Mill Lane and The Street has been mentioned as being in the frame for it as well.( I suppose that there are no Tree Preservation Orders put on that area, yet)

If the rumours become actuality and we do have a Health Centre, great news for all.

However, if it does turn out to be situated in the East, I am a tad concerned that Mill Lane and/or The Street will have an increased weight of traffic, that will be hard to bear.

Personally, my feelings are that should such a centre be built the better location would be in the more affluent section of British West Hawkinge, where the roads are more suitable to sustain the extra traffic. After all if such a retailer of renown such as Lidl, can be accommodated on the vast vistas surrounding the “southern by pass why not a health centre?

Can anyone assist in scotching this rumour or giving it substance?

Finkle should be told, along with the rest of us. Don’t you agree?

We have checked to see if there are any planning applications pending but we are afraid this seems to be nothing more than a rumour. However, we understand outline planning for a Health Centre, Nursery  and other enterprises were placed before Shepway District Council when the first application for a supermarket and public house was made. http://www.localrags.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1103
