LIFT RESTORATION STEPS UP A GEAR

Robert Mouland, the man who brought back to Folkestone the original Step Lift carriage is hoping to see the it up and running once it is restored.

With Parish Council Chairman and District Councillor David Callahan supporting his venture, Mr Mouland has opened the 1890 Leas Lift Carriage Restoration Appeal to raise the £20,000 needed.

Mr Mouland has written to Asda, who are set to open a store in Folkestone in 2006, offering them advertising on the roof of the Step Lift Carriage.

They have said they will not be able to consider the deal until next year, when the store opens.

If you would like to contribute to the fund please email us stepliftappeal@localrags.co.uk and we will put you in touch with Mr Mouland.
