HAVE YOUR SAY ON BATTLE OF BRITAIN MUSEUM FUTURE

Shepway residents are being given the chance to have their say in the future development of the district.

They are being invited to comment on the Folkestone Town Centre Action Plan, affordable housing, the future development of Fishermen’s Beach at Hythe, the use of Nickolls Quarry at West Hythe, Ingles Manor, the Battle of Britain Museum site in Hawkinge and Link Park and Mountfield Road industrial sites. There is also an Open Space survey that will provide an overview of the formal and informal open space in the district.

In all some five hundred local groups, parish councils and community organisations are being sent invitations to take part in consultation about the Local Development Framework – a planning blueprint which will set out future land use across the district.

Local Development Frameworks and Regional Spatial Strategies will replace the current system of Regional Plans, County Structure Plans and Local Plans.

Valerie Tupling, Local Plans Manager at Shepway Council, said the future development of Shepway and its environment was very important.

“We have contacted as many local groups, interested parties and parish councils as possible and everyone’s views are welcome. We intend to produce several local development documents, each concentrating on specific issues, that will go towards the creation of the Local Development Framework.â€?

“Organisations will be invited to get involved with the preparation of any of these documents. We are also asking people how they would like to be involved in the consultation process - from attending focus groups, exhibitions and public meetings to being sent letters, leaflets and e-mails. We hope as many people as possible will want to get involved in this very important process, said Valerie.

Invitations are being sent out this week (w/e. 29 April) and need to be returned by 17 June.

More details about the Local Development Framework and the consultation process can be viewed on the council’s web site: www.shepway.gov.uk
