PLANS FOR SHEPWAY AIR SHOW NEXT YEAR

The Shepway Air Show which was grounded last year could take to the sky next year if the owners of Lydd airport succeed with their plans.

Margate has already jumped in to bring an airshow to Thanet this year after the popular Shepway show was axed for financial reasons.

It was reported by the BBC that Zak Deir, managing director of the airport,  said he did not think it would cost the airport's owners as much as before.

He said: "We own an airport and we can offer facilities to the aircraft operating the airshow at a much cheaper rate, or maybe free of charge.

"We could still operate it at Folkestone with aircraft taking off and coming back to land at Lydd."
