£60 FINES FOR PARKING AT BUS STOPS

Bus stop ‘clearways’ will be introduced during the next few weeks to help make life easier for bus passengers using routes 12 and 711 between Folkestone and Lydd.

Every bus stop on the route will be marked with a wide, yellow line alongside the kerb. Anyone parking or waiting at a bus stop clearway will receive an automatic penalty of £60.

The new restrictions are being introduced by Shepway Council, following talks with bus operator, Stagecoach in East Kent.

“In particular, it will help disabled passengers and parents with young children and buggies, especially where the new low-floor, ‘kneeling’ buses are used, said Stephen Gasche, the council’s Transportation Officer. “We intend to enforce these new restrictions rigorously so that passengers can get on and off buses safely.
