87 YEAR OLD LADY ROBBED

An 87 year-old woman from South East Kent  had over £200 in cash stolen from her home by two men claiming to be from the water board.

A man called at her home in Woolage Village, between Dover and Canterbury at around 11.30am on Tuesday, 22nd March 2005 saying the water was going to be turned off. The woman allowed the man into her home and left the front door ajar. A second man entered the house and after the pair left, she discovered that over £200 had been taken from envelopes in her shopping bag.

The offenders are both described as being white men in their late 30s.

A police spokesman said, “We urge anyone answering the door to callers to always ask for identification and never allow anyone into their home unless they are absolutely certain of who they are and that they can be trusted.
