TOP OF THE BROADBAND LEAGUE

The UK now has the most extensive broadband availability of the G7 nations.

There are currently 96 per cent of households with access to the high-speed internet and more than six million subscribers.

The figures were revealed at a special E-Commerce conference in London's Docklands.

Minister Mike O-Brien said: "We wanted the UK to be the best place in the world for e-business and this is fast becoming a reality.

"Hosting this conference for the first time here in London is another sign that the UK is determined to lead the way."
