Damage to fence during snow

DAMAGE TO FENCE DURING SNOW

Dear Ed

During the recent winter conditions at the end of last month, it was lovely to see children playing on the hill opposite the Churchill School and obviously having enormous fun in the snow.

What wasn't so lovely to see was the damage to the fence at the bottom of the hill where children had crashed into it whilst sledging and the debris left in it's wake.

The fence has now been mended by the Council, just before the next bout of snow forecast for next week. It is up to us as parents to teach our children to respect property and to keep our environment clean and safe.

The fence is there for safety reasons, not to spoil the fun of the local youngsters.

A well looked after and tidy development makes for better house values apart from anything else. Perhaps if parents were asked to pay for the damage their children cause, it would be a different story - how to enforce this would be the problem.
