FOLKESTONE CAMERA CLUB 7 February 2005

On Monday 7th February, Chris Shore FRPS, AFIAP, M[AGB. BPE3* a friend of the club and member of Ashford Camera Club and the Mirage Group, judged this 4th slide competition of the season. It was a very interesting evening, our members learning a lot from his tips, advice and experience o­n how we could improve our photography. His winners were (marks out of 20):-

Next Monday 21st February will be our 4th Print Competition where we will be seeing our members work – with an ever increasing number of prints entered, as digital becomes more widely used among our members. The 28th February will be a lecture entitled ‘Let’s go (entirely) Digital’ presented by Mr John Wigmore FRPS, EFIAP, MPAGB, BPE3* which will prove to be a very informative and enjoyable evening given by a very experienced photographer as the letters after his name show.

We would also like to take this opportunity to CONGRATULATE o­ne of our members, Marie-Laure Stone, o­n winning a competition run by Wanderlust magazine every year. This really has been third time lucky for her as she has been a finalist twice before and received a Highly commanded. but at last she has won the digital category. The competition is called the "travel photographer of the year", and the first prize this year is a photographic commission to Australia. Her photograph, of two grizzly bears fighting, taken in British Columbia, was displayed and judged at Earls Court along with the other finalists. and was printed in the ‘Independent’ newspaper o­n the 5th February. Her print will be added to our Web site for all to view. Well done Marie-Laure, and good luck for next year !
