HOUSING PLANS WITHDRAWN SHOCK

After an efficient and well co-ordinated campaign  against a planning application to build 98 new homes on Black Horse Meadow in Densole, the application was suddenly withdrawn on 15 December.

Swingfield Parish Council acting Chairman Cllr Colin Tearle received the news in a letter from Shepway's Director of Regulatory Services Jeff Stack, and residents are rejoicing over the result, although the plans can be resurrected at any time.

At the end of November seventy five residents squeezed into the Swingfield Parish Council meeting to hear the debate over the plans, in a co-ordinated show of support for the Council.

Less than impressed councillors were unanimously against the development and the Council sent their views to Shepway District Council as did many residents who backed the Parish Council's stance.

The developers have continued to offer plots at prices ranging from £9,500 - £14,500 on Black Horse Meadow, both on the internet and by using advertising in the area.

Acting Chairman of Swingfield Parish Council Cllr Colin Tearle said that in view of this, the request for a Section 4 directive will not be withdawn. This directive was requested by the Council to try to stop the sale of individual plots as advertised.

By requesting that Shepway District Council use their powers to issue a Section 4 directive, this would remove permitted development rights to the field.
