OUT BUT NOT DISGRACED

Folkestone Invicta's FA cup hopes were dashed as Chester staged a second-half comeback to triumph 2-1 in their FA Cup first-round clash
.

Ryman League Folkestone, making their first appearance in the first round proper, had taken a shock lead in the 11th minute when Chris MacKenzie spilled an inswinging free-kick, allowing a grateful Adam Flanagan to score, but Chester's superior fitness saw them through in the second half.

They levelled matters after the restart when a clumsy challenge by James Everett on Ben Davies gave away a needless penalty which was duly dispatched by captain Michael Branch.

The goal gave Chester the upper hand and it seemed only a matter of time before the visitor's defence would be breached again.

It was in the 71st minute that a fine ball over the top by Dave Artell was finished expertly by Ryan Lowe, putting Folkestone out of the competition by just two goals to one.
