HEALTH CENTRE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE

The plans for the Health Centre in the woods have now been withdrawn and the applicants GP Premises Limited are considering land off Haven Drive and Spitfire Way.

The site, on the employment land near the new Lidl foodstore has already been granted outline planning permisssion. The company will be considering the merits of both sites before making a final decision.

Local residents were critical of the site for the Centre and re-formed the Hawkinge Civic Society to fight the plans.

Chairman of the Society Stuart Hall said: "Common Sense has prevailed".
