VILLAGERS DESPONDENT OVER MASSIVE HOUSING PLAN

Local residents are to fight plans to build nearly one hundred new homes on Black Horse Meadow between Canterbury Road and Coach Road in Densole.

The massive development is not in keeping with the village say residents.

Chairman of Swingfield Parish council Cllr. Roger Curd speaking in a personal capacity said: "My telelphone has been red hot since news of the plan became known. All the calls I have received have been against the housing development. People are asking for advice and guidance".

Mr Curd  explained that in the local plan which was published last year, the 3.5 hectare site was not included in the village envelope which means that no development is normally permitted on any site and the land should remain as agricultural.

A resident from Coach Road, who wishes to remain anonymous said: "There is enough wasted space in the country to build homes. My principal objection is that in the District Plan the Government agreed the land would not be used for building. People I have spoken to are very despondent".

A total of ninety eight homes are proposed in the outline plans which will be formally considered by Swingfield Parish Council at its monthly meeting commencing at 7.30pm on Tuesday 29 November at the village hall. Any comments or objections must be received by Shepway District Council by 9 December.

Leaflets to fight the plans  are being distributed to villagers (see below)

BLACK HORSE MEADOW

Would you rather look at this

or 98 HOUSES?

The new owner of this field has applied to Shepway District Council for outline planning permission for the erection of 98 dwellings.

The application does not accord with the provisions of the development plan in force in the area. The site is not scheduled for housing.

Write now to Shepway and tell them you object to the planning application and tell them your reasons. These might be it is against the local plan, the increase in traffic entering the busy A260, pressure on the local sewerage system, lack of local facilities or pressure on our local schools.

Address your letter, quoting reference YO5/1472/SH, to Mr J T Stack, Director of Regulatory Services, Shepway District Council, Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, Kent CT20 2QY to arrive not later than 9 December 2005.
