YOUR IDEAS TO PROMOTE DOVER COULD WIN £10,000

You could pick up a cool £10,000 by producing an eye-catching idea for Dover.

Dover Pride partners Kent County Council and Dover District Council are launching a competition to find imaginative ideas to promote the town and port. Artists and designers can use nationally recognised assets like the White Cliffs and Dover Castle to spark ideas. Or they can come up with their own personal vision to generate interest.

Entries close on Monday 28 November and the winners will be announced at a special ceremony on Thursday 15 December following an X Factor-style public vote. First prize will be £10,000, runner-up £3,000 and third place £2,000.

Chairman of Dover Pride and KCC Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Supporting Independence Graham Gibbens said: “Dover means something to everyone – whether it’s the White Cliffs, the castle or a special place elsewhere in the town. We are challenging artists and designers to take those ingredients and come up with a really exciting idea which could bring in millions for the town.

Dover District Council Leader, Cllr Paul Watkins, said: “This is excellent news for Dover and a great way to focus on the town. This is a wonderful example of Dover Pride working for the future of Dover.

The competition is open to professional artists, designers and students - anyone who can come up with a brilliant idea. And the winner could be put forward to help Dover bid for a share of the People’s Millions fund run by the National Lottery.

For further infomation visit the competition web page, email R&Pinfo@kent.gov.uk, telephone 01622 694046 or write to Regeneration and Projects, Strategic Planning, Kent County Council, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 1XX.
