NEW ALLOTMENT SOCIETY

By Nick Lord

The newly formed Hawkinge and District Allotment Society is holding its first meeting proper on Sunday 11th December 2005 in the foyer of  the Hawkinge Community Centre.

Hawkinge could soon have its own allotment site if there is enough support

The society is looking for new members to support its application to the local council for a site where allotments for the local residents can be put.

At the moment the council is soft pedaling our attempts to encourage them to allocate a parcel of land for allotments. Something it is legally obliged to do if enough people express an interest in having an allotment.

The meeting takes place at 10:00am and is open to anybody who is interested in having an allotment or can help with lobbying the council.
