HAWKINGE YOUNGSTERS URGE COUNCIL TO PROVIDE YOUTH AMENITIES

Members of the Hawkinge Youth Forum lobbied Hawkinge Parish councillors at last night's meeting ( 9 November) to provide facilities for the youngsters in the village.

The council heard representatives of the forum put forward ideas for investing in youth. Some of the ways they would like to see it achieved could include a skate park and the use of the Hawkinge Community Centre for sports and band practices.

The young people told the Parish Council they felt no-one wanted to invest in the youth of the village and all young people were being treated as troublemakers.

Hawkinge Parish Council will be discussing the issues at next month's meeting (14 December).

The Hawkinge Community Youth Forum meets every Wednesday at the Hawkinge Partnership Office in Canterbury Road, Hawkinge.
