AU REVIOR OR IS IT GOODBYE TO THE SEACAT

Hoverspeed will be withdrawing its cross channel service from Dover next Monday (7 November), three weeks earlier than the usual Winter break.

Seacat's future -  in the balance

There is widespread speculation in the town that the company plan to pull out of the port.

On the company's website a notice states: "Hoverspeed will be ceasing operations after the last scheduled sailing on the 7th of November 2005".

Sea Containers, who owns the company is expected to make a statement on the future of the Dover operation during a scheduled meeting on Thursday (3 November).

Hoverspeed runs two Seacat fast ferries between Dover and Calais,  and employs 102 staff in Kent and about 60 in Europe.
