Pure mischief making

PURE MISCHIEF MAKING   RE: PRO NEW HEALTH CENTRE PETITION

Dear Ed,

I read, with interest, the above stated petition. Firstly, I would like it to be noted by all concerned that the opening paragraph is deeply in error; the majority of residents first knowledge of the planning application was the appearence on the minutes of relevant Parish Council Meeting of the discussion about the proposed health centre. Events did not occur the other way around. What is also in error is that it is more than "a few people" that have now raised objections to this project.

The supporters of this venture should also know that, and as far as I can determine by asking people for their opinion, no one is against the idea of a new health centre; what seems to pass by the people presenting this proposal is that although a new health centre is highly desirable in Hawkinge, it cannot be put just anywhere. In this case the proposed position is away from where the concentration of the population of the village is now and at a time when space, with the relevant planning permission, has already been allocated in the vicinity of this area.

The lightly veiled threat contained in the last paragraph is just pure mischief making for the reason mentioned in my preceding paragraph - space has already been granted for this venture. If these doctors really want to serve their patients, then surely the site should be chosen to be closest to the majority population concentration - or am I mistaken in this reasoning?

So what other motive could there possibly be for the proposal at the Mill Lane site? One is given to speculate.

Yours as ever,

Lazarus
