D Day nears over Health Centre plans

D DAY NEARS OVER HEALTH CENTRE PLANS

Dear Ed,

Just 12 days to go before D Day (Decision Day) regarding the approval or non approval of the new Health Centre Plans.

Amended map

Surely it is plain to see, that the building of a place, that will be well used by the village, is in completely the wrong location, at the junction of a busy but narrow two lane road, The Street and the busy but narrow single lane, Mill Lane.

Those that know this area, will see that the above photographs are a couple of years old and that the extra housing now in Kettle Drive are not shown, or indeed some to the extra housing built off Grey Close and Cowgate Lane. Nor indeed, the future development that will be built approximately opposite the entrance to Kettle Drive.

Given the density of present housing and the prospect of more being added, how on earth are the two roads that will carry the traffic cope?. Let alone the residents.

The traffic problem, would not be so bad, even now, if the Bollards at Webster Way (well known as a Social Exclusion Barrier to some) were removed, allowing traffic to flow more freely in the area. These, we are led to believe, for some very obscure and nefarious reason, will not be removed until the completion of the so called “Northern Relief Road that will supposedly run from Aerodrome Road to “Mudshole(roughly the junction of Pay Street with Canterbury Road) When this is built there will be approximately an extra 400/ 500 houses added to the village. The occupants of these houses will, no doubt, avail themselves of the proposed facilities of the proposed new Health Centre! It is grotesque and ludicrous to think of what extra traffic will make it’s way along The Street and Mill Lane to a new Health Centre, as proposed. Even if there will be less traffic through the village, there will be a vast increase across the village.

Now, I for one, would love to hear the views of a certain chap, who is privy to much information, broadcasted on these pages. The chap, as you may have guessed goes by the name of Callahan, David Callahan. Chairman of the Parish Council, District Councillor and a member of Shepway District Council’s Planning Committee, I am also led to believe that he is allegedly a member of a group/committee pledged to maintain the status quo of the infamous Webster Way Bollards, i.e. to keep them in situ for as long as possible!

Now, our chap Callahan, who protested that he only 100% supported an application for a future New Health Centre plan in his private capacity and was not privy to privileged planning information, must know what is occurring and who’s back, if anyone’s, is being scratched and by whom. Qui bono?

If not, then surely he has eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear and a mouth that cannot speak on behalf of the residents he supposedly serves. If he does know, and I expect that he knows far more than he is divulging, to quote a famous “rock opera “that deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball!

Time for him to nail his colours to the mast (not the somewhat garish Lib Dem ones, we know he would normally fly) Time to reveal what is behind the veil, time to make public what is privy and earn respect for doing so. If he declines, let him resign or have his reputation flushed down the privies at the end of our gardens.

Now, dear readers, a version of “spot the ball. Where would you site the New Health Centre? May I suggest, that little section off Barnhurst Lane, newly granted planning permission for dwellings? Or perhaps somewhere close to the Community Centre, left of centre in the below map? Or somewhere else ?

Finkle’s fickle finger of fate points to………..?
