Why build in the woods?

WHY BUILD IN THE WOODS?

Dear Ed

I write in response to Ms Yvonne Parry's comments in the Kentish Express last week. Ms Parry was reported as speaking on behalf of Hawkinge Health Centre.

For those of you who did not see the article and Ms Parry's response her words are quoted as follows:

"She said the practice was full to bursting and had to move. Bigger premises were needed so that a good service could continue and for new services to be added. She said that she hoped villagers would look on the Shepway District Council website where the planning application was explained in detail and consider the merits of the plans"

Have the various existing members of the Health Centre, highways, planning etc departments, missed the point of the local "uprising" against the new development?

Has anyone ever expressed the opinion that there should not be a larger surgery with more services provided?

Most definitely NOT, but why, confusingly when land is already earmarked as part of the aerodrome development, decide that in order to be built, the wonderful new surgery needs to decimate a natural woodland, and situate itself  where it will be virtually inaccessible by car, or safely accessed by foot, at the junction of a race track (The Street) and a country lane (Mill Lane) and nowhere near the centre of the village at all?

I suspect nobody is going to help me with my confusion and answer that.

Woody
