Dear Member,

As part of an ongoing educational and cultural exchange, thirteen pupils from Selsted School with three staff and parents were guests at Aviron Primary School.

The visit in June proved to be one of the most popular events to date, and at a re-union held at the school, guest of honour Colin Tearle heard first hand from enthusiastic parents and pupils how successful the trip had been.<P align=left>Next year pupils from the Aviron Primary School will be visiting Selsted School.

On a sunny weekend in September 20 local members of the Swingfield and Aviron Twinning Association paid a three-day visit to the twinned Norman village.

Arriving on Friday, they were immediately whisked off by the various French host families where they would stay for the long weekend.

Needless to say, the fine weather always adds to the warmth of the Norman hospitality and the following day a coach party of English and French twinners spent the day by the River Loire in the pretty town of Amblois, which is known for its remarkable castle and the Leonardo Da Vinci museum.

Initially Sunday was spent relaxing with the various host families, lunch being a barbeque. During the afternoon Aviron had its annual village fete, with the main attraction being a light hearted cricket match between teams of mixed nationality and gender played in front of the mairie.

Early in the New Year the committee will be meeting their French counterparts in Swingfield, to arrange the year's programme of events.

On 11 November, the Chairman of Swingfield Parish council Cllr. Roger Curd will be a guest of the Mayor of Aviron M. Langlios and will be laying a wreath at the Aviron War Memorial. Also attending will be Twinning Association Chairman Colin Tearle.
