SHEPWAY'S RECYCLING AND REFUSE BOSS QUITS

Shepway's Director of Customer and and Commercial Services Jonathan Lund who was responsible for waste and contract management has quit.

The transition to a new collection system introduced by Mr Lund had been heavily criticised by local ratepayers.

There were problems recently when the new vehicles brought in to improve recycling in the District had to be taken off the road.

This was described as a safety measure, by the Council, and followed a problem with lifting gear o­n o­ne of the lorries, but a council source claimed Shepway officers had altered the original design and technical specifications on the new vehicles.

Mr Lund is joining Selby District Council as one of two Strategic Directors.
