OBJECTIONS TO WIND FARM BLOWN OUT

A  controversial wind farm planned for Little Cheyne Court, on the Kent and Sussex border of Romney Marsh has been given the go-ahead.

Wind turbines will soon be a familiar site on Romney Marsh

The development for a 26-turbine wind farm proposed by Npower Renewables, was announced by energy minister Malcolm Wicks today (18 October).

It was opposed by Kent and East Sussex County Councils, Camber Parish Council and Shepway District Council. A three month public inquiry ended in January.

The Department for Trade and Industry said on Tuesday that the inspector's report concluded the project was "consistent with government policies on energy and environment".

The 26 turbines will generate enough electricity to power 32,000 homes.
