TORIES GAIN MORE FOLKESTONE SEATS

In a second Conservative gain in as many weeks, Philip Martin has been elected as the new Shepway Councillor for Folkestone Central.

Philip thanked the people of Folkestone Central for their support and promised to repay their trust by representing them to the best of his ability.

The seat was won by the Liberal Democrats in 2003 but they were beaten into third place capturing only 16% of the vote.

Conservative Party Agent Bob Davidson said, "This result shows how the Liberal Democrat support has disintegrated from 2003 when they won the District Council and this seat. The people put their trust in the Liberal Democrats to run our District but they betrayed that trust by trying to close local facilities and hike up our taxes. The fact they have now been third in both the last two by-elections, one of which they won in 2003, shows what a spent force they are in Shepway."
