Raw deal for local farmers

RAW DEAL FOR LOCAL FARMERS

Dear Ed

We understand that as a result of the recent media coverage of our Farmers getting a ‘raw’ deal with the supermarkets and ‘Farmers Day’ last week, that their livelihoods are at stake.

When television crews asked the public if they would be prepared to pay more for milk their answers were mostly yes, or the supermarkets should make less profit and pass more onto our farmers.

Could it not be publicised more that milk (and other Dairy products) and meat can be purchased DIRECT FROM THE FARMER – therefore cutting out the Supermarkets profits – at local FARMERS MARKETS, along with other farm and locally produced goods?

Capel-le-Ferne Farmers market is held every Tuesday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Village Hall, where we have approximately 20 stalls every week, including DAIRY and MEAT. A full list of all other Kent Farmers Markets can be found on www.producedinkent.co.uk .
