No to dual carriageway angers businessmen

NO TO DUAL CARRIAGEWAY
ANGERS BUSINESSMEN
Business leaders in Dover have complained to the Transport Minister after finding the A2 is not to be made dual carriageway between Dover and Lydden.
Members want the road widened with passenger and car numbers expected to double in the next 30 years.
Business leaders think the town will struggle to cope without improved transport infrastructure.
In the letter to Department of Transport minister Tony McNulty, they said the A20 at Townwall Street, which takes traffic to the Eastern and Western Docks also needs urgent upgrading.
Although some commuter services from Kent into London will run on the High Speed Rail Link, Dover has been left out as one of the domestic station stops.
The rail link is due to open in 2007, with new 140mph trains operating on the line from 2009.
