NO POINTS FOR POOR FINISHING

Hawkinge 1 Saltwood 2

By Cyril Trice

The disappointing results from Hawkinge Football Club yesterday (16 January) continued the pattern of recent fixtures.

They seem to have control of most of the play but lack the ability to put the ball into the back of the net when chances arise, and in this game they had plenty.

Saltwood scored first from a corner, with a gift of a goal when the keeper held the ball but let it slip behind the goal line. Unlike Manchester United, last week, the linesman saw this one.

The away team followed up with a second goal before half time which left Hawkinge a bit of catching up to do.

A quarter of an hour into the second half, when the crowd were wondering if Hawkinge would every score James Howard put one away for the home team.

We can only hope for a better result next week when Hawkinge are at home to Sellinge in a Cup match.
