DUNGENESS RESIDENTS ISSUED WITH PILLS IN CASE OF NUCLEAR ACCIDENT

Pills for residents living near to the  Dungeness Power Station are to be distributed in case of a nuclear accident.

The tablets, which are due to be given out to residents by the end of February lessen the risk of thyroid cancer,  and will be given out to protect those living within 2.4km of the nuclear plant.

The scheme is in place at other power stations in the UK ready to protect residents living nearby.

British Energy have put in place an early warning system to alert people if an emergency happened.
