RESCUE PACKAGE ANGERS RESIDENTS

The announcement by PlaneStation, owners of Kent International Airport (KIA) and the budget airline EUJet, to introduce more routes and night flights, has angered residents living close to the airport.

The increase in the number of destinations was welcomed by Thanet District Council but campaigners claim 80% of people living near to the  airport at Manston are opposed to plans for night flying.

The announcement by the company is part of the rescue package after they raised £30m to guarantee the business for the next two years.

Managing Director of EUJet PJ McGoldrick has said that they expect to carry 800,000 passengers out of KIA next year.
