NEW ROAD BUT BOLLARDS MAY HAVE TO GO

Shepway's Development Control Committee last night (21 December) rubber stamped plans to build the final stage of the long awaited Hawkinge link road.

But residents in the Webster Way area of the village may lose the bollards which blocked a possible 'rat run' from The Street to Canterbury Road.

As a part of the original plans, the building of the new road had to be considered with the proviso that there would be consultation over the future of the bollards once the work was completed.

Councillors also voted in favour of 540 new homes, which include a number of affordable dwellings and a large ' Family Pub' on the land at the junction of  Haven Drive and Spitfire Way.
