PETER THANKS TROUBLESHOOTER

Shepway Council has recorded a vote of thanks for the man who led the organisation through the turbulent times of government capping and national inspection.

Brian McAndew was the council’s interim Chief Executive from the end of June - following the retirement of Ron Thompson - until the appointment of Alistair Stewart in November.

At a meeting of the council o­n Wednesday (24 November), Chairman Cllr Peter Smith, said Brian had come to Shepway at a particularly challenging time.

“We had just received out CPA rating and our budget was capped by the government. The councillors responsible for interviewing Brian had confidence that he had the right qualities of skill and experience to help us through those difficulties. We all came to share that confidence and it was well placed.�
